Google has partnered with Nestle to name the next flavour of their Android operating system “KitKat”. Android is the operating system that currently powers over 1 billion smartphones and tablets. As Apple names their iOS releases after ski resorts, Google uses desserts. Here’s what previous Android versions have been called:
- Android 1.5, Cupcake
- Android 1.6, Donut
- Android 2.0, Eclair
- Android 2.2, Froyo
- Android 2.3, Gingerbread
- Android 3.0, Honeycomb
- Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich
- Android 4.1, Jelly Bean
- Android 4.4, KitKat
You’ll also notice that the names have been alphabetical. The original name Google had chosen was “Key Lime Pie”. What do you think the next Android OS will be called? Hint: It starts with a ‘L’! [ANDROID]
