4. Avoid outdoor or tourist ATMs:
Usually highly populated ATMs are targeted for skimmers because the thieves can gather more information in a shorter period of time — which prevents them from getting caught — so it’s in your best interest to avoid any ATMs in popular or tourist-filled areas. Using an inside ATM is safer because those machines usually don’t have skimming devices since they are monitored by or in view of employees.
