The Sunova Centre – West St. Paul’s Recreation Site is located at 48 Holland Rd, which is just off of the North Perimeter between Main Street and McPhillips Street, within the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul. The Sunova Centre had its grand opening in March 2009 and is owned and operated by the RM of West St. Paul.

It’s a 17,000 square foot facility that includes a gymnasium – complete with four changing rooms, a spacious lobby, commercial kitchen, mezzanine level, boardroom and outdoor viewing area.

The West St. Paul Recreation Site also includes the outdoor skating rink, pleasure skating rink, four ball diamonds and six soccer pitches of various sizes. The Recreation Site hosts West St. Paul Hockey, Ringette, Soccer, Softball and Baseball Teams during their sports seasons, as well as the North Winnipeg AAA Pirates Baseball Teams. West St. Paul Nursery School proudly calls the Sunova Centre home as well.

Along with hosting these sporting activities, the Sunova Centre also runs various recreational programs and activities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy! Some of these programs include fitness classes – such as Basic Hatha Yoga, KickFIT, Zumba & more; special interest programs – such as Wilton Cake Decorating; unstructured programs – such as Sunova Gym Drop-In; children’s activities – such as Kidz Dance, Manitoba Minor Ball Hockey, FUNky Monkey Movement Education Class for Kids, Sunova Spring Break Camp and Sunova Summer Camps.

Many West St. Paul Community Events also occur at the Sunova Centre throughout the year. The West St. Paul Lion’s Club will host a Family Fun Winter Carnival on Louis Riel Day in February, a Community Fall Supper in October and a Lunch with Santa Event in December. The Sunova Centre hosts Community Garage Sales in the gymnasium and two are planned for April and September 2015. West St. Paul’s newly formed Seniors Committee is also planning to host two Seniors Luncheons at the Sunova Centre in the spring and winter of 2015. The West St. Paul Fire Department and the West St. Paul Canada Day Committee also host an annual Canada Day Celebration on July 1st at the Sunova Centre each year. 2014 was the 25th anniversary of West St. Paul’s Canada Day Event!

The Sunova Centre is also available to rent for various events and activities such as birthday parties, socials, sports team practices, showers and so much more! The ball diamonds, soccer fields and outdoor rink are also available to rent. By far the most popular type of rental for the Sunova Centre is socials! The total capacity of the Sunova Centre for a social is 557 people, which is quite large compared to some of the other Community Centre’s locations around the area. The Rental Fee charged is comparable to other facilities in Winnipeg with the same capacity. Please contact the Sunova Centre directly for rental rates and date availability.
