It looks like it might be a chilly Halloween this year… but let’s hope we’ve seen the last of the October snow fall.

If you’re a parent/guardian who isn’t a fan of long walks in chilly Winnipeg weather, then perhaps you’ll want to bring your kids some of Winnipeg’s safe Trick-or-Treating options. The best part? You can get some early Christmas shopping done at the same time!


Various malls throughout the city will be offering Safe Trick-or-Treating where kids can collect candy by going store-to-store instead of door-to-door. Parent’s have peace of mind that their kids are safe from traffic and the grueling Winnipeg weather.

St. Vital Centre (Thursday, October 31):

St. Vital Centre invites all the monsters, zombies, ghosts, butterflies, fairies and superheroes to come stay dry and warm on October 31 for Safe Trick or Treating, starting at 6:00pm.

Free treat bags will be distributed in Centre Court for kids 10 and under, while supplies last.

Kildonan Place (Thursday, October 31):

Kids in costume can visit our stores from 2:00pm – 4:00pm to Trick or Treat in the comfort of the mall. Get your Trick or Treat bag, some goodies* and list of participating stores at Guest Services.

*Available to the first 1000 kids


Garden City Shopping Centre (Thursday, October 31):

Join Garden City Shopping Centre on October 31 from 11:00am – 2:00pm for Tiny Tods Safe Halloween.

Portage Place (Thursday, October 31):

Join Portage Place for Safe Halloween!

Trick or treat around Portage Place on Wednesday, October 31 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

IKEA (Friday, October 25):

Friday, October 25th from 11:00am to 8:00pm is Halloween at IKEA!

Dress the kids up and come on in for trick or treating, scavenger hunts and Scary Family offers throughout the store! Kids in Costume will eat for free in our restaurant with the purchase of an Adult meal.

Its a spooktacular event!


Assiniboine Park Zoo (Saturday, October 26 & Sunday, October 27):

Dress up in costume and take part in family-friendly trick-or-treating throughout the Zoo during your visit!

Visit the following Trick-or-Treat stations in the Zoo from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm:

  • Wolf habitat
  • Arctic Fox habitat in Journey to Churchill
  • Inside Gateway to the Arctic
  • Polar bear habitat
  • McFeetors Heavy Horse Centre
  • Gibbon Pavilion
  • Toucan Ridge
  • Stingray Beach

PLUS:

  • Look for a variety of animals that will be celebrating Halloween with special pumpkin treats!
  • Visit Cinderella and Vampirina on Saturday, and Captain Hook and Malificent on Sunday from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Gateway to the Artcic.
  • Winston the polar bear will be making appearances at Gateway to the Arctic on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
