CFL Cancels 2020 Season Which Was to Take Place in Winnipeg

The 2020 CFL Season, which was supposed to take place entirely in Winnipeg, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will be the first year the CFL season has been cancelled since 1919.

Another reason for the cancellation was that the league was unable to secure financing from the federal government. They had requested a $30-million, interest-free loan to run the shortened 2020 season.

The CFL is committed to returning in 2021. For now, the Blue Bombers will remain Grey Cup Champions for another year.
