Here’s what’s open and closed during the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, September 30, 2022.


Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

Recycling/Garbage Collection

Recycling, garbage, and yard waste will be collected as normally scheduled for those with Friday as their collection day.

Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg Transit will operate on a weekday schedule on Friday, September 30, while Winnipeg Transit Plus will operate on a Sunday schedule.


Libraries

All Winnipeg Public Libraries will be closed on Friday, September 30.

Online services, including downloadable eBooks, catalogue searching, and holds/renewals, are available anytime at City of Winnipeg – Winnipeg Public Libraries.

Recreation & Leisure

Indoor Pools

The following City-operated indoor pools will be open on Friday, September 30:

Margaret Grant 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Pan Am 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Arenas, Fitness & Leisure Centres

The following Fitness Centres will be open on Friday, September 30:

Pan Am 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Animal Services

The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Friday, September 30.
