The long-awaited new Costco location in Headingley is set to open its doors on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 4077 Portage Avenue, finally bringing a Costco to shoppers in the west.
The original St. James Street Costco at 1315 St. James Street will temporarily close on November 12 to begin its transformation into Winnipeg’s first-ever Costco Business Centre.
This marks a major expansion of Costco’s footprint in Winnipeg, providing a new way for local businesses, from restaurants and convenience stores to office managers, to stock up on the bulk goods they need.
The Business Centre concept is a unique offering, focusing on professional and commercial-grade products, often in even larger quantities than a traditional warehouse. While it won’t have a food court or clothing section, it will be a one-stop shop for businesses and a welcome addition for anyone looking for specific items for events or large households.
With a second new traditional Costco location also planned for West St. Paul, Winnipeg is solidifying its status as a key market for the retailer. These two new stores, along with the conversion of the St. James location, are set to significantly ease congestion at existing warehouses and create a more efficient shopping experience for everyone.
