Ottawa has recently announced that citizens from Mexico and the Czech Republic will now have to obtain a travel visa prior to entry into Canada, starting tomorrow.
With the new requirement in place it prevents citizens of these countries from travelling to Canada and claiming refugee status after they have arrived. On the Citizen and Immigration of Canada Website, it mention that these two countries have the highest number of claims and only a handful are accepted while some are being withdrawn before the final review.
Folklorama event organizers are now in a crunch to assist their performers to get visas in time for this summers event because of this, which starts August 2nd. This is on top of other travellers from these regions who are now scrambling to the Canadian Embassy to get their visas in time.
