Canada Post workers across the country have been taking a strike vote over the past months. Hundreds of Winnipeg employees also made their vote last night.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has been negotiating with Canada Post since November 2010 and have yet to reach an agreement. The conflict is with the new mail delivery system.

If a strike does happen, then Canada Post employees across the country can walk off the job as early as May 24, 2011.

If you have been planning on ordering items online… then you should do it very soon. If a strike does take place, you may not get your package for quite some time.

Winnipeggers who absolutely have to do an online order should opt for an alternate shipping method such as UPS or FedEx.

NOTE: UPS and USPS are not the same! UPS is the brown courier company. USPS is the United States Postal Service. Any item shipped via USPS will still go through Canada Post no matter what expedited shipping cost you pay. UPS and FedEx will deliver to your door directly without going through Canada Post.
