A contract preventing pedestrian traffic at Portage and Main will expire in six years and the Downtown Biz association would like to see crossings at the intersection again.

In 1979, the city signed a contract with area businesses to close the intersection to foot traffic, and build an underground concourse.

If the busiest intersection in the world in Shibuya, Tokyo can support pedestrian traffic – then surely Portage and Main can. [CJOB]
