Winnipeg’s Grace General Hospital has Canada’s longest emergency room wait time for the second year in a row.

On average patients wait 7.9 hours to see a doctor (up from 9.1 hours last year)

Lori Lamont, acting president and CEO of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority blames the delays on crammed space. “It’s very difficult to make space available to see the less urgent people in the emergency department if there is no available stretcher space to do that.”

In addition, the report revealed that all the hospitals in Winnipeg are above the national average of 3.1 hours.

To help improve wait times, the WRHA released a website that will let you view current emergency room wait times. The site will list how many patients are waiting, average wait time, and longest non-urgent wait. Even if the wait times appear long, you will be seen quickly if your condition is an emergency.
