Winnipeg Transit is rolling out its new fall schedule on Sunday, September 6, 2026, and this year’s changes are about more than simply adjusting routes for the changing seasons.
The fall schedule includes a number of changes aimed at improving reliability, simplifying service and better responding to rider feedback. Transit users will see annual seasonal adjustments, new bus stops, route extensions and schedule improvements across Winnipeg.
New Winnipeg Transit Fall Schedule Starts September 6
The fall schedule officially takes effect on Sunday, September 6. While seasonal route changes are a regular part of Winnipeg Transit’s fall schedule, several of this year’s changes are designed specifically to improve the experience for passengers.
Here are some of the biggest non-seasonal route changes coming this fall:
- Routes 678 and 679: The 678 Waverley West-Chancellor and 679 Waverley routes will receive new terminals on University Crescent. Both routes will also travel through Waverley West, helping reduce demand on the BLUE route.
- Route FX4: The FX4 Gateway-Portage will have a new terminal at the Polo Park Main Terminal, making transfers between routes easier.
- Route 48: The 48 Transcona Blvd-McMeans will be extended between Kildonan Place Mall and Walmart, providing improved transit service in the area.
- Route 649: The 649 Chevrier will be extended to improve service for residents in Whyte Ridge.
- Route D18: To simplify service, the D18 Notre Dame will operate on Arlington Street in both directions.
- On-request Zone 106: The southern boundary of Zone 106: North East will be extended from Edison Avenue to Kimberly. The change is expected to improve evening and weekend service.
- Route 650: The 650 McGillivray will be shortened to better match current ridership demand.
More Bus Stops Coming to Winnipeg Transit Routes
Winnipeg Transit is also adding additional bus stops along the FX2 route on Main Street.
The new stops are intended to make transfers easier while ensuring that all stops along the route have access to controlled pedestrian crossings.
Passengers travelling on the BLUE route will also see additional stops added along west Portage Avenue.
