The highly anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Nintendo’s latest Zelda 40th Anniversary presentation gave fans their first extended look at the remake, showing off completely overhauled visuals, updated controls, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue and a modernized camera system.
For Canadian gamers, Nintendo has listed the digital version at $84.99 CAD, while the physical version costs $99.99 CAD.
The physical edition also comes with a special bonus for collectors. Launch copies will feature a special textured foil cover packaging, available while supplies last. If you’re planning to pick up a physical copy and want the special cover, pre-ordering may be the safest option.

The remake takes players back to the world of Hyrule in what remains one of Nintendo’s most celebrated games.
The original The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released on November 21, 1998, for the Nintendo 64. It was the first 3D mainline Zelda adventure and went on to become one of the most influential games ever made.
Nearly three decades later, Nintendo is rebuilding that classic adventure specifically for the Switch 2.
The new version features completely overhauled visuals, redesigned environments, smoother performance, faster load times, symphonic orchestral music and improved controls. Link can now jump and run using dedicated controls, while the camera can be freely controlled using the right stick.
Nintendo is also expanding the game’s presentation. Characters have fully voiced dialogue during expanded cutscenes, while the world itself has been given additional details and a continuously running day-and-night cycle.
One of the biggest new additions is called Threads of Time. The feature lets players keep track of their progress and objectives throughout the adventure, with a large tapestry gradually filling in as Link progresses through the story.
There’s even a new way to play the iconic ocarina. Players can hum melodies into the Nintendo Switch 2’s built-in microphone, allowing Link to perform songs that he has learned throughout his adventure.
Nintendo is also integrating the game with ZELDA NOTES, a feature within the Nintendo Switch App. Players will be able to track their accomplishments, take part in location-based challenges, play a virtual ocarina and test their Zelda knowledge with a quiz containing more than 2,000 questions.

The timing of Nintendo’s release is also raising plenty of eyebrows.
Ocarina of Time launches on November 5, just two weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has officially confirmed November 19 as the release date for GTA VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Going up against Grand Theft Auto VI is an incredibly ambitious move for Nintendo. GTA VI is expected to be the biggest video game release of the year, and its November launch has already had a major impact on the industry’s release calendar.
Many publishers have been reluctant to put major games anywhere near GTA VI, given the enormous amount of attention expected to surround Rockstar’s next blockbuster.
Nintendo, however, doesn’t appear to be backing down.
The two games are obviously very different. Ocarina of Time is a classic fantasy adventure aimed primarily at Nintendo and Zelda fans, while GTA VI is Rockstar’s enormous open-world crime epic. Still, both games have something in common: they are among the most recognizable names in gaming.
For Nintendo, the November 5 release gives Ocarina of Time a two-week window before GTA VI arrives and potentially consumes the gaming conversation.
