Yesterday the Blue Bombers announced that they have cut their go to place-kicker Troy Westwood.
Westwood has been a big part of the Bombers for 17 years. He’s made 4 Grey Cup appearances, and has the clubs all time record for points scored with 2,741 points (not bad for someone who scores 3-point field goals and extra points). He also leads the CFL with a 85.7 career playoff field goal percentage.
Westwood has been having difficulties since last season. The difficulties carried over to Hamilton last Thursday. Troy was 0 for 1. His attempt went wide right from 42 yards out. The Bombers ended up losing the pre-season game against the Hamilton Tiger-cats. The final score was 12-10.
