TOP 5 PLACES TO SWIM IN WINNIPEG
Some of us will no longer be‘ bathing suit’ material by the time the new Canad Inns Water Park is ready. So where can we go to cool off the summer heat for the time being? Well this Top Tuesday will outline just some of the various places you can take the whole family for a splashing good time! Hit the jump (read more) for the list.
5. Skinners Wet N’ Wild
Highway 44, just west of Lockport Bridge
2008 Rates:

Six waterslides, bumper boats and cars, mini golf, a hot tub, batting cage, wading pool, video arcade. The best part? Its right by lockport bridge, so drop the kids off, and get some good fishing in :)

Winnipeg’s greatest indoor Olympic sized swimming pool. Built for the Pan-American games, this pool is now open to the public to enjoy. Diving board, indoor track, fitness program and a kiddie pool is available. I believe this is the only pool in the top 5 that has a diving board.
3. Birds Hill Provincial Park
Hwy #59, 24 KM/s North of Winnipeg
Day Passes Available, or Entrance with a Provincial Park Pass
Only a short driving distance from Winnipeg and closer than Grand Beach, Birds Hill Provincial Park offers an excellent beach for all Winnipegers! An artificial lake of approximately 80 acres with four miles of shoreline supports swimming and water recreation. The park also has a large campground, a horse stable, and many trails designed for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Concessions are also available.
2. Fun Mountain
Hwy #1, 8 KM/s East of The Canadian Mint

One of everyone’s favorite places for the summer. I’m sure most of you, if not all, have been here or driven by Fun Mountain. Fun Mountain features 7 different slides and 3 slides in the kiddie pool. Also a large hot tub is located in the middle. Mini Donuts are also often available for purchase here. To take a break from sliding, there is a tropical themed mini golf course and bumper boats on a man made lake. My favorite has to be the Tube Ride!! So fun!!!

* You must be a Club Member to purchase the above passes. Membership is $10 and is valid for 2 years.
Lilac Resort is fun for the whole family, and mine always find reasons to return every year. They’ve got an amazing pool with 2 speed slides and a large tube slide. Another pool is also dedicated for activities such as water basketball and leap frog. Concessions, pool tables, video games, are also available pool side. Various hot tubs surround the area with two hot tubs and hammocks in the ‘virgin’ bar. No alcohol is served anywhere on the premises, but it doesn’t mean that its not permitted. Lilac allows you to ‘BYOB’ (Bring Your Own Booze) and are free to drink it anywhere in the park. They used to have a wonderful mini golf course as well, but were forced to close it down since it was located to close to Hwy #1 and was a hazard for a possible out of control truck. Kiddie pool is also available for the kids.
