Safeway has discontinued its Club Card program. Shoppers will no longer need to be a Club Card Member to get in on the various discounts available in store.
Discounted prices will be available to all customers without having register a card, provide a phone number, or haul around another piece of plastic in your already card-heavy wallet/purse.
Safeway was purchased by Sobeys in 2013 for $5.3-billion. Safeways Airmiles loyalty program remains in place. Sobeys is currently partnered with Aeroplan but there’s no news on if, or when, either of these programs will be replaced by the other.
The Club Card also provided discounts on Safeway Gasoline and Starbucks… let’s hope those discounts continue to be offered now that the program is discontinued.
UPDATE: For gas discounts, a fuel coupon will be printed on the bottom of your receipt.
@AccessWinnipeg A fuel coupon will be printed on the bottom of your grocery receipt. Redeem inside the fuel kiosk to get the discount.
